Unfortunately, no. I have only tried the current plinth. I am very satisfied with the results using the same construction on my two Thorens TD-124's at the time, thus the decision to build the same.
You will be pleased with the CLD plinth if you build one. It sinks the motor vibration of the 301 so effectively that even if you put your ears 5 mm. away from the platter with or without the mat when it's running, you will hear nothing. Of course the motor should be level and the springs that suspends the motor should be intact.
