Horrible feedback problem

I have a low-frequency feedback problem with my EAT C-Major TT (Ortofon Quintet Blue cart) that renders it absolutely unusable. It's a very low-frequency flutter that gets so bad at increased volume that I'm afraid something will be damaged.

At first, I approached this issue as simple acoustic feedback and built an isolation platform with raquetballs. When that didn't take care of it, I built a sandbox to internest in the raquetball platform. That didn't work either. The dust cover has been removed. It doesn't exist when the tonearm is at rest, so as a final test, I tried resting the stylus on the record with the TT off - not rotating - and lo and behold, there it is. Horrible feedback when the volume is turned up, even when the record isn't spinning. I'm at my wits end as to what is causing this issue. All I can think of is that there is something wrong in the cartridge, which actually has very low hours.

Any ideas?
