I've been using this for years with no concerns. Does a fine job cleaning records with either of my VPI 16.5's.
To a clean 1 gallon jug add
16 oz alcohol (90% concentrate) I have varied this to 32 ounces for especially dirty records
2-3 drops photo-flo
Top off with DI or distilled water
Shake solution for about 60 seconds.
As a nostalgic touch I use an old 8 ounce Discwasher Fluid bottle to apply it.
Prior to applying the solution the record is cleaned with a Nitty Gritty brush on a VPI 16.5, 1-2 rotations.Record is then cleaned with this solution on a VPI, 3 rotations with a VPI brush, followed by 3-4 rotations with a MoFi Cleaning pad.
Some are known to add a drop or two of Dawn dish detergent, I do not as my concern is any residue that may be left on the record surface.
After the initial cleaning the record is rinsed (fine mist applied by a spray bottle) with pure DI or distilled water. The rinse is then removed and the record dried with a VPI 16.5.
I have cleaned more than 6,000 LPs with this comination, no regrets.
