I saw the guy as a young man, and as a grey hair, and still enjoy the good memories.
first was at the Hollywood palladium , where he was second on the bill, between stoneground and Steve miller, Steve miller had the rock love trio at the time. ,
Scaggs had all the rest of Steve millers old band, and they were tight, playing material from the flames of love album era, with the band , all chips on the table, stopping the show a couple of times. while the audience tried to recover and get a grip, finding it impossible to clap enough. A mind blowing event.
Later on, way after his star turn, I saw him in at an outdoor venue in a casino in Laughlin, Nv. His new lead guitar was a surprisingly young guy, and although he didn't bend backwards down on his knees in passion like Stevie guitar miller, I can't say he was any the lesser player. Scaggs also had a female singer to help carry the load.
Can't say I regret that show either, although the venue was mostly just a dressed up parking lot, not a lot of magic there, but still a heck of a show. It was the first guitar's birthday, a joyous concert. palladium
