Old Guy - Turntable Experience

I'm 70. OKAY? I built my first stereo out of parts from Olsen Electronics and a portable record player back in 1966. My family had a Pilot console stereo when I brought home Sgt Peppers to devour with friends.

Handling records, setting up cartridges, messing with turntables it's second nature. I've been doing it since the early 70's - 50 years ago.

Reading posts by young folks just seriously getting into vinyl in the past decade really makes me glad for all this experience. I remember the first time I set up a cartridge. One that had not come pre-installed on my Dual TT. I feel for these new guys. Oh, it's true we didn't have YouTube videos, forums or any other way to know about how to do things other than what someone older and wiser than us showed us first hand. But we learned by trial and lots of error.

I enjoy being 70 - I like to tell people I'm 70 all the time - I feel it both confers on me some level of experience that says I know what I'm doing and at the same time excuses me from some of the mistakes I make. As in, "Sorry, I messed up, I'm 70."

Not sure what brought all this on today - I guess reading about "newbies" and their introductions to VINYL. Thanks for indulging the old guy.
