One of my peeves

is the use of the term "minty" when describing LPs or components.

Does (duz!) that mean it is light green?

Did the poster taste it?

Often when we look for an alternate word we pick an abbreviation or contraction, not a word that is longer. So why say minty when mint conveys the image?
