RE: How long should a carbon fiber brush last?

Given my experience with Audioquest carbon fibre brushes there is a possibilty with the old design that they may fail after only 20 years or so of pretty constant use. This may shock people who have spent maybe as much as $20 (15 gbp) on one. That represents as much as $1 per year!! What kind of person can afford that?

Basically the fibres don't fail but the mounting may.

However after a very long period of use the fibres may become soiled so I would suggest an occasional overnight soak in some kind of cleaner ( I use Disc Doctor either Miracle of Quick Clean) followed by a rinse with distilled water and an air dry.
