My actual experience....

I own and use both Audio Technica AT-MONO3SP and Stanton 500 cartridges to spin 78's. I use them on both a Technics SP-15 and my SL-1200MK5, which is modified for 78 RPM.

Using the AT cartridge with a standard Technics headshell and tracking at 5.0 grams, performance is flawless. No issues whatsoever.

Comparing the two cartridges, the Audio Technica is noticeably 'brighter' than the Stanton. To my ears, the Stanton produces stronger bass response and a fuller sound.
