The discontinued VPI Traveller was the outstanding value at that price point. The Player at the same price is not as good, although it packs a lot of value for the money.
I don't really care for the Pro-ject, Rega, and Music Hall models at $1500. ClearAudio no longer has anything at this price level. Even the Sota Moonbeam is nearly up to $1500.
This used to be the entry-level point for a high-end turntable, but now I would say it is more like $2500. There you could look at the ClearAudio Concept, the Pro-Ject RPM 9, and the VPI Scout.
