RE: Yup.

Looking at the front of the cartridge, if the stylus is being pushed outward toward the edge of the record, there is too little antiskating applied. This is the condition when no antiskating is used. The tonearm is pulled inward by the skating force and the stylus is prevented from moving inward by the groove so the stylus is pushed outward by the groove.

With correct antiskating, the stylus and cantilever should remain straight and in line with the cartridge body.

Too much antiskating pulls the tonearm outward, but the groove stops the stylus from moving outward so the stylus appears to be pulled inward by the groove.

Others have mentioned Peter Ledermann's method of setting antiskating and I think it might be the easiest approach to the problem. Try it and see what you think. Using the Hi-Fi News test record to set antiskating will normally give you too much antiskating.
