RE: VPI Dual Pivot Report, Really?

I'm looking at images I Googled and it appears the dual pivot is more of an outrigger that drags across a plate that in other arms might be a paddle and trough.

The added friction is a good thing?

Perhaps the 'bearing' is a vibration sink maybe 'improving' the sound but tonearm bearings are a study in reducing friction, n'est ce pas?
