RE: Correct Protractor ?

Long ago, I bought a device called the DB universal protractor, which has served me well , in that it works as advertised, and is somewhat fool proof in the use of the device. Cardboard and plastic, but it did come with its own hole already installed.

(One helpful tip when trying to visualize the cart orientation against a printed grid is to tape pencil leads on the cart, extending the angles off the cart body for better visualization. )

Shure once made a cart that was sold in a display box that also fit onto the turntable center post to give you a perfect custom made jig for setting the location of the cart correctly. A real spoiler of a design for a cart package. I wish every cart came that way, with a jig custom molded for the cart that you just fit over the turntable post I keep dragging up the memory in hopes ortofon will pick up the design from popular demand.

Some guys really enjoy a metal device that traces the cart path. Meh. I can't get worked up with paying a guy to etch a trace described by the same tool one can buy to set up a cart. The fewer interpreters of a measurement the better, almost like copying a signal form in audio,
