Vinyl was and always has been my medium of choice, unlike my first cheap tt my first disc player sounded like shite and wasn't cheap at $1000. I kind of wrote digital off until dvd, then tried digital music again, and again was underwhelmed. In reviews the Sony DVP-NS500V was favorably compared with the Rega Planet so I took the plunge, again hoping to hear what all the digital hype was about. Again I felt digital to be lacking, better this time especially with SACD but I still preferred my vinyl.
Jump ahead a decade or so and a couple of yrs ago I purchased a Sony DVP-NS900V, a $1000 player when I purchased the NS500 but at the time wasn't about to plunk down that much money on a digital player again. Now they can be had for about $80 without a remote, but most Sony remotes work anyway so I purchased one.
Well I still prefer my vinyl, but the margin is now much slimmer, especially with SACD. I can now sit and listen to digital fatigue free for the first time, I now own three of these decks along with a silver faced DVP-NS999ES to use with my silver faced vintage Kenny gear.
So I agree, vinyl is still king in my house, but digital now has a seat at the table.
