I basically agree with most of what you've said...

Probably one of the biggest problems in comparing a commercial digital recording with your vinyl LP is that of frequency response. All digital equipment has ruler flat frequency response curves whereas the frequency response curve from your turntable is far from ruler flat. A phono cartridge's frequency response through an RIAA phono stage is lucky to be flat within +/-2dB. Therefore, it's doubtful you will ever find a digital recording that sounds the same as a vinyl LP played on your turntable unless you actually make the digital recording from your own turntable.
