I'm still wondering how the external fields generated by the opposing magnets can avoid affecting the cartridge. Trying to get my head wrapped around it...

At the same time, are DIY parts readily available? It might be fun to experiment, and not just with a Linn. (A buddy has a Rega - could be adapted to that, too?)
