RE: a newbie in need of help - entry TT advice

Yes, what you intend to do is good if your Technics has that Aux input (neither of the two types that I mentioned have it). Although the phonostage that you can buy within your budget will not be the ultimate it will certainly get you started. Project themselves make some good cheap phono amps in their Phonobox series and even the less expensive ones have a good reputation. There may, of course, be other choices for you.

I needed to find out if you knew about the requirement for one as I was worried that you would spend all of your money and then be disappointed that you could not actually use the turntable that you had bought.
