I run two turntables in my main system so that I can play records that aren't in the best shape using a MM cartridge. That way I don't prematurely wear down the stylus of my good LOMC cartridge and replacing the stylus assembly of the MM cartridge doesn't cost so much.

I also like to have a second turntable and phono preamp to make comparisons and trouble-shoot.

That's a nice setup you ended up with.
