Heard the strangest thing on a record

I put on my new/old copy of Joni Mitchell's Miles of Aisles yesterday, this being a much better looking copy than the one I've had since the 70s or 80s that had gone through my flood, was warped (but straightened out over the years) and was overall overplayed. It looked clean and played clean on the first side I put on. Then I tried another side and it started, playing adjacent grooves simultaneously, sounding kind of like shouting them. The thing is I let it play through and by the end of the song it had stopped, and played normal through the end of the side.

When I took it off I looked at it and there appeared to be an indentation in the vinyl that was pressed in by the stamper. The grooves looked OK otherwise, and the record was basically clean. It almost looked like someone stuck his thumb on it before it hardened.

The other strange thing about this set is that my original was sides 1/2 on disk one and 3/4 on disk two. This one was 1/4 and 2/3. I don't know when either was pressed, but I know I've have my original for many years.
