AT3482P tracking force?

As you may know from reading my previous posts I'm completely new to vinyl.
I recently bought a Technics SL-6 linear tracker on a flea market. The cartridge I received two days ago and didn't have much time to listen yet.
It sounds great (see my other posts) but one particular record I bought new is reproduced with distortion. The record is a 45rpm by Aphex Twin.
"Normal" records play perfect. I must add I have the same track on CD and that distortion isn't part of the track :)
That leads me to réalise i haven't tried yet to make sure the only set-up you can change on that turntable, the vertical tracking force, is correct.
I guess the table allows weight ranging between 1g and 1,5g, and so is the range provided in the specs of the audio-technical AT3482P cart. When I got the table it was set on 1,25g (the cart was the original technics p23 )

Basically I have no idea what the correct weight should be. With supertramp, putting 1,5g makes the sound more grounded and less open, maybe a bit more on the warm side. But I have no idea what "good " is. I'm scared of breaking things. Scared of ruining my records of my stylus :D new to vinyl, remember!

How does one know when correct vertical tracking is reached??
