RE: Record cleaning water questions

OK but what are your talking about? Fresh Pure provide 3 different standards of water purity according to their website. As the water that you cite comes from a food store and, therefore, is probably intended for gastronomic purposes, I doubt that it is a high enough quality for record cleaning, especially at that price. I would stick to distilled water (not just de-ionised) unless your ecord listening is only to e.g. rock where the comparatively low dynamic range may mask any minor clicks and pops.

As for the need to change the water this only has a partial relevance to the number of records that you clean (unless it's very intensive). A significant reason for changing the water regularly in an ultrasonic record cleaning system is biological contamination. Any biological contamination may result in further growth of the life form in the groove after the cleaning process is complete unless a further form of removal is also employed. Another approach would be to hermetically seal off the water in the tank from air contact but this is probably impossible to achieve given the purpose of the process.

In brief, change it once monthly even if you clean no records at all. Otherwise change more frequently if you are cleaning lots of records. Clearly the more soiled the more frequent.
