Here's the low down on the speakers......
They're single drivers built by the late great Terry Cain. The "pipe" is 6 ft high and made of Alder. The Fostex driver is quite sensitive at 96 db and is a perfect match for my 3 Watt "Flea-powered" 2A3 Single Ended Triode mono amps. My SS amp is an incredibly well built DIY of a Nelson Pass F-5 power amp that he introduced with his small start-up "First Watt". The production model puts out 25 Watts, but the dude that made this particular unit beefed up the huge caps producing 36 Watts! It sound's almost as warm through the Terry Cain "Abby" single drivers as the 2A3s, which is amazing. Nelson makes some great amps!
The sound is very warm and open. Over the years I've come to realize that I prefer tone presentation over increased detail. I have some conventional two-way monitors compliments of a pair of Coincident Triumph IIs that image like crazy, but they lack that beautiful tone.
Yeah....I love the room as well.....14' x 24'.
