The DL103 has a spherical tip and these have the shortest life compared to other tip designs. MC cartridges require you to either get a new cartridge when the life of the tip is up or better still get the tip replaced by someone like Expert Stylus (in the UK) or Soundsmith (if you are still satisfied with your purchase). This latter approach is better because you can upgrade the tip to something more advanced that reduces groove wear and has a superior technical performance.
Expect to get around 400 to 500 hours with the spherical tip before you get more intrusive inner groove distortion and general sibilance issues.
I suggest that you log the playing time if you want to be sure!
If you go for a retip in future, the more advanced tips will see you closer to 1000 hours+ depending on your care in alignment accuracy and cleaniliness of the records. You will see figures of 2000 hours life being thrown around. This is very diamond quality dependent and tip cut dependent. The longest lasting tip is Van den Hul Type IS. Generally expect something between 600 to 1000 hours (this is only ever an estimate due to the variation in usage conditions)unless you are given specific information from the retipper/manufacturer.
