RE: THORENS TD160/TP16 MM Cartridge? DENON DL-103?

It could work. The effective mass of the TP16 (1st version) is 16grams. Which should work with the rather stiff suspension of the DL-103. But the TP16 has a rep for pivot bearings working loose over time. Loose pivot bearings tend to rattle when enough vibrational energy is transmitted into them via the arm tube. If fitting -that- cartridge be sure that the pivot brgs are correctly adjusted.

re: boring sounds from TD160. Actually it will be the character of the cartridge that makes a turntable sound boring or interesting. Choose a cartridge that does not have a rep for sounding laid back.

btw 1: you said you wanted to stick with MM, then asked if a DL103 would work on the arm. The DL-103 is low output moving coil. Just making that clear for anyone reading the thread.

btw 2: The Td160C in the photo looks very clean and sharp. Nice score.
