RE: anyone else agree with RickW & +1 thru +3?

Evidently we are all listening through different gear and different perceptions.

My experience with MM is mainly Shure, Pickering and ADC. Kind of light on variation there. In any of the versions I've heard above will not have the same "substance" as I noted in reference to my Shelter 501-II. for that matter a Dl-103 and 103R will also produce a considerable heftier sense of meaty presence. The Ortofon Jubilee I had was ditto.

I should also note that my MC listening is in reference to a low output moving coil used with a step up transformer feeding into a "good" phono stage. Does a "good" phono stage have to cost more than an average one? Evidently so. Protest all you want, FredJ.
