Used vinyl if you are sensitive to ticks and pops and I am as well is tough. Muzikmike once wrote an excellent guide on this forum on what to look for in a record. There are physical signs of wear that can be spotted as well as if it comes in a plastic sleeve that is not new(the record, not the cover). However, jazz is a nightmare and I think that only pop records(buy 6 copies and give 5 to your mother...) and classical which were often given as gifts and can come in mint condition(covers worn and record is perfect) are worth it. Used jazz has often been played to death under poor conditions. I assume that you are using a RCM as without one, used records are a waste of time IMO.
