I've got a Clavis da Capo that has become a low rider. I'm not using it right now trying to figure out whether I want it rebuilt and by whom. Don't know why it happened. Couldn't be from old age. It's not even 20 years old yet (tfpic).
Have you asked the customer if his "damped" tonearm cueing if dropping the stylus hard onto the record? He might need to replace the lift. Drop that cart with a hard landing often enough, it'll collapse the suspension.
Does his stylus cleaning technique include resting his arm lightly on the tonearm cue rather than clamped down? (If the brush technique is used.)
