I had a chance to drop into Second Story books in Rockville MD last week. This is on of my favorite places to dig through bins.Compared to the last time I was there, they've gone upscale! They have a separate vinyl room now, instead of the corner full of boxes. They're set up a collectible section by the door, with nice stuff at _high_ prices. They seem to have a general idea of what is collectible, but some of the prices were crazy.
But, digging the bins still paid off!
Two nice Blue backs. The Karajan was the splurge at $4. Everthing else was $1. ( They must not be 'collectible' :)
A couple of RCA's. I already has the Prokofiev but couldn't pass on this 1S/1S for a buck. Especially since the cover had a newspaper review from a Van Cliburn concert in DC inside! I love finding old reviews inside records.
I had the Beethoven in Mono but had been looking for the LSC.I Love Geiseking. Especially on the english silver Angels.
Copland conducting Copland is the best, this one in Mono. I didn't recognize the Beethoven/Heifetz under this cover. It's the same number and performance as the white covered LSC-1992 which I have.
A fun day in Rockville! I've still never made it to the main store in DuPont Circle, but judging from the 'collectible' prices in Rockville... it might be pricey now.
