RE: I use Last Record Preserve and Last stylus cleaner to good effect

HI Richard,
This discussion deals with three Last products. There is Last Record Preservative, then Stylast, and finally Last Stylus Cleaner. They all do different things.

Concentrating on Stylast and the Stylus Cleaner, they are different. Stylast is intended to work with the Record Preservative to give maximum effect and the cleaner is just that. It's a cleaner. Stylast is not. If you had a stylus microscope you would find that after about 20 records a kind of varnish builds up on the stylus that a dust brush cannot remove and you can't see it with your eye. But the microscope shows it clearly.

I have found two cleaners that removes the varnish effectively; isopropyl alcohol and Last Stylus Cleaner. I have switched to the Last product because-well-why not, all their other products work well. It works very well. Of course, the stylus should be dusted with a brush between each record side.

So my record playing routine is dust the record surface with a slightly damp Discwasher to remove loose dust, dust the stylus with a stylus brush, and then apply Stylast to the stylus. About every 20 records I clean the stylus with Last Stylus Cleaner. I know it sounds like a lot of work but it's not and the results are worth the trouble.

Sparky
