If you want isolation, a cheap and effective method are squash balls. Just 4 or so under your plinth and they will compress. There is no chance of them rolling around so you don't need any kind of cup.
There advantages and disadvantages to both cones and squishy stuff. Cones will not isolate, but they will make for good coupling, helping to elimintate internal vibes, either airborne or from the motor. Soft interfaces will decouple the TT from the stand, helping to isolate against external structural vibes, but will allow the TTs internal vibes to propagate.
Cones can be found pretty cheaply nowadays, brass cones are everywhere and are very effective, maple domes can be found at most hobby shops, and there's a ton of different soft interfaces out there, but squash balls are a good cheap way to experiment.
Good luck, have fun, and report back with your results.
