A lot has been written lately about the importance of azimuth, especially as exotic stylus shapes seem to be more popular. I wonder whether a unipivot arm gives even a tiny help to a long contact stylus to sit optimally in the groove. Might this be especially so for low compliance cartridges requiring relatively high tracking weights?
Could this account for some of the popularity (and performance) of unipivots?
Full disclosure: I have a VPI arm and will be exchanging an elliptical stylus for a Soundsmith optimized contour.
