I have no interest in digitizing my vinyl but...

I have all of my CD's 'ripped' to my Apple Mac music server for convenient playback and it sounds as good as my Accuphase CD player. Each CD takes just a few minutes to 'rip', unattended, and it's several times faster than the playback time of the CD itself. All the track information and album artwork get pulled down automagically from the internet. Just insert the CD and when it's done 'ripping', it ejects. Super quick, simple, and worth the effort.

This would not be the case with vinyl. Digitizing vinyl is a very manual and labor intensive process. It would take at least the amount of time to play back each side of the record not counting the ritual of cleaning it and the stylus first. And then you'll probably want to digitally 'fix' minor pops and scratches using the computer, tag each track with meta data and incorporate album artwork images, etc. In my opinion, it's not worth the time and effort to digitize vinyl... just put on the record and spin it on your turntable!

Some folks actually enjoy painstakingly digitizing vinyl albums one by one spending a couple hours or more on each album. That's fine if you have loads of free time on your hands and like to tinker.
