The common stuff ($1 to $5 records) pretty much have to be sold locally. Few people are willing to spend $2.50 for media mail on a $2.00 Billy Joel record purchased sight unseen on the hope it really is "Near Mint." Not when it's easy enough to find the same very common record locally.
In general, the only time I buy or acquire used records through the internet:
1) Small lots of hard to find records.
2) More desirable records in the $10.00 & up range that I have little hope of finding locally.
3) Swap with other collectors.
In those cases, I can justify the cost of media mail shipping.
