I was fortunate to have one of the players at Gotta Groove Records send me some LPs to evaluate. They were all very good including this very same Nick Lowe LP.
I know exactly what you are saying about sound quality. They can hear the difference but they don't appreciate it. Its disturbing because they all fall over themselves for better quality video, jewelry, shoes or handbags. Go figure.
My wife doesn't care about my hobby and has taken it as part of me. She can hear the difference and my mother-in-law can hear the difference and they have both admitted to hear the difference but they don't want to be bothered.
I suppose it all boils down to laziness and I can't figure out another explanation. Why would someone not persue better sound if they:
1) Recognized that it did exist
2) Knew where to get that sound
3) Could afford whatever it took to get the sound
Most people just want their downloads on their phones or music players and don't want to be burdened by stuff like vinyl. To be honest I totally understood that attitude each time I had to move my collection but I cannot bear the thought of living with downloads.
Some of them are OK but I grew up with vinyl, know what it sounds like when done properly and won't settle for less.
