My Jerry's Records Report

First, thanks to everyone who contributed information making my visit to Jerry's Records more productive. I grabbed a parking spot on a side street not too far away. When I first walked in my first thought was that the store was big, but not really big. But then I made my way through the catacombs and soon realized that the place is massive, and they will probably never get all the records filed that seem to reproduce like bunnies.

During my walking around the store, I lucked into the vertical stacks of records against the back wall which held a ton of records, in some cases more than ten copies of a record that was not in the front bins. I presume they are records that are moved out into the front stacks as the records in the front are sold.

I ended up spending 3 1/2 hours in the store, most of which was spent working off my list, and a little time actually browsing. Having a list really helped. My only disappointment was that the selection of mid and late 60's psychedelia was a little light. Outside of the usual suspects (Doors, Airplane, Band, Byrds, etc.), the pickens were slim.

Other artists largely missing were Jim Hall, Tal Farlow, Ornette Coleman, Everything But The Girl, and Siouxie and the Banshees. But
I ended up with 41 records, and could have taken a lot more out, so all was not lost.

I missed the posts about cash - I had to run to a bank machine about five minutes before closing time. No credit card. And no cash register. All the records are priced with .00 at the end, and the employee adds them up in his head, and gave me a discount, put then in a box, and off I went carting them down and then up the hill to my car.

My take: ABC - Alphabet City
Janis Joplin - I Got 'Dem Old Cosmic Blues
Band - Moondog Matinee and Stage Fright
Carole King - Tapestry
Nick Gilder - You Know Who You Are
Michael Murphy - Blue Sky Night Thunder
Elvin Bishop - Struttin' My Stuff
Gerry Rafferty - Can I Have My Money Back and Snakes and Ladders
Pablo Cruise - Lifeline
Ozark Mountain Daredevils - It'll Shine When it Shines and car Over the Lake
Mary MacGregor - Torn Between Two Lovers
Jigsaw - Sky High
Player - Player
Maria Muldaur - Maria Maldaur
Pilot - Pilot
Stampeders - Sweet City Woman
Robert John - Robert John
King Harvest - Dancing in the Moonlight
England Dan and John Ford Coley - Nights are Forever
Coleman Hawkins and Mary Lou Williams
Frank Morgan - Easy Living and Reflections
Carmen McRae - Haven't We Met
Cannonball Adderley - Sharpshooters and Domination
Phil Woods - Four Altos
Jan Garbarek - Dansere
Sonny Stitt - All God's Children Got Rhythm and Satan
Houston Person - Basics and Always on My Mind
Grant Green - Easy
Charles Lloyd - Weavings and Moon Man
Michael Brecker - City Scape
Kenny Garrett - Prisoner of Love
Bud Shank - California Concert and Sunshine Express

I am sure there will be a next time, and then maybe I'll be able to hit the early and mid 60's pop/rock. And I'll remember cash is king.
