Moving: How to transport TT?

I'm moving and want to take my Rega P5 with me. I still have the original box and it will go with the other household items in a large truck container going cross country. Would you recommend taking off the cartridge or just leave it on with the protective cap and with the tone arm in the locked position? I hate to do the cartridge setup again.

Also, how should I pack my vinyl collection? I'm concerned by the summer heat as the container is not climate controlled.
