RE: Lots of variables in play...

The Bronze was smoother on sibilants but brighter, brassier with less "delicacy" or realistic shimmer in the high end. If I switch them now, the Bronze doesn't have the edgy sibilants per se, but it really loses that sense of air and realism in the high end so I end up going back to the Black and putting up with the occasional edgy sibilant!

If I remember correctly, the Black sounded nice in the beginning but I had a hard time dialing it in. I now realize my VTA was off and just how critical that adjustment is for the Black's shibata stylus, but the damage occurred early on while I was trying to dial it in so it's hard to pinpoint a time when I was completely satisfied with it.

I've also had the ongoing issue other Project owners have with motor resonance so to be honest, since I got back into vinyl six years ago, I've constantly been trying to achieve the sound I know vinyl is capable of producing (within the budget I can dedicate to it) but never seem to get there. At times I feel like giving up and sticking with digital, or at least getting rid of my current equipment and trying something completely different!
