If phono cable is greater than 250 pf. In my experience (V15VxMR) too much cable capacitance on this cart will result in rolled-off high frequencies.

But then if you are hearing a familiar cartridge but just breaking in a new stylus assembly, it may be that the suspension in the Jico stylus assy needs to limber up a bit...and as the thing continues to break in, sonic character will change.

As Jrags suggests, a different stylus profile may require a different vta adjustment. VTA will have considerable effect on the overall tone character of the cartridge.
