I've owned and used lots of turntables, Garrard, Dual, Elac Miracord, Pioneer, Yamaha, JVC, Technics, Bang & Olufsen, BSR, etc.... Belt, direct drive, and idler drive.
Favorites?
That would be my two main turntables in daily use. Both are 78 rpm capable and feature variable pitch control. With over 7,000 78s in my collection, having these features is essential. I also like the excellent build quality, ease of use, fast cartridge swapping, and precise speed control each offers. Not to mention they both sound great, no matter what I'm spinning.
Technics SP-15, free from a local radio station. After fixing a few problems, I built a plinth and added a 10.25" effective length Jelco tonearm. Shown here spinning an Edison Diamond Disc at 80 RPM.
KAB Technics SL-1200 MK5, with Cardas tonearm rewire, tonearm dampener, external power supply, and 78 RPM modification. Gabba Gabba Hey!
