In Reply to: Would you rather have: 20,000 Lps with a lot of average stuff, and only 2,000 great ones, or just the 2,000 ? posted by Elizabeth on March 24, 2012 at 20:47:07:
I am in my early sixties and for years I picked up single lps or boxes and often told myself that another copy of a record that I already had might sound better! Also for completeness sake, I needed every LP by a second rate artist? But how much stuff do you need. For the last year I have been culling out records and giving them to some younger folks along with receivers and turntables that were "projects" and never got off the ground. Finally I am having stud walls and shelving put up in the basement to get a real listening room and I can finally put "like with like" to see what I really have. I think that as the cull goes on it gets easier to give stuff away. I am hopeful that I end up with the 2000 or more really nice records. After nearly 50 years of collecting "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH"! Norm
