It's teflon insulated copper, litz. From what I understand, the conductors are the same Cardas litz wire they sell as by the foot for internal tonearm wiring. Difference is the added jacket and shield. Some have used this shielded version for a straight run from tags to RCA plugs, stipping back enough of the outer jacket to be able to run the individual wires inside the arm. Obviously an additional ground wire would/could be run as well.
