Switched outlet on NAD C350

I just got an NAD C350 with a captive power cord. I would like to install an IEC outlet or upgrade the captive cord. There is a switched 2 prong A/C outlet on the amp. It takes up a lot of room and I would like to remove it. Can I clip the two wires going to this outlet? Do I have to terminate them in anyway?
