Solder can be a factor in terms of how things sound, or making a good connection, but the conductivity of the solder is not going to ba as much of a factor as you might think, it has to do more with two things:
how well the particular alloy works to form a bond with the metals it si connecting, and how well the flux cleans the surface to be soldered.Yes, the flux seems to be as much a factor as the particular alloy.
I have found that for most purposes, Kester brand 63/37 with the 44 flux will work very well, and provides good solder joints. Ersin in this alloy is also quite good.
For those with advanced soldering skills, and the proper tools, some of the other alloys, such as the Cardas quad eutectic, Wonder solder, or some of the commercial alloys such as 62/36/2 from Kester or Ersin will work at elast as well, and possibly better.
Personally, I have not had good luck with 4% silver/96% tin alloys, and from a brand aspect, many folks have found that the RS solder seems to be problematic, whether due to poor inventory control (and the solder getting old, it does have a shelf life for the flux) or due to poor alloy purity or poor flux quality, it really doesn't matter.
USe the search engine, or chgeck th archives, solder has been discussed here before.
