Re: I really am struggling....

Thanks for all the useful advise. I never realise the 'transport transplant' is so difficult. Because my CDP has three PCB; the one with all the displays and buttons, one connected to the transport, and the DAC part. The transport looks like a seperate unit from the rest of the player because all the connections are via three sockets.

Is it possible to just replace the motor? I think it's very complicated because the CD-spinning motor is directly soldered on a tiny PCB together with pickup servo motor(which is the scary bit), i'm not brave enough to de-solder the motor without the possibility of replacing the whole unit if it fail. I won't get a new CDP because; A. it's brand new. B. It sounds brilliant despite the little noise.

I've always thought that all Sony and philips transports are readily available as off-the -shelf products. I will replace it with a new transport if the cost is $500 +/-150 or $700 if it's actually a better one. Per did you mention there's a sony OE part catalog? where can i find one please?

Thanks v.much for the advise,

William
