Sam9, the Dayton RCA's (part #091-1120) are just fine. I used a set recently on a headphone amp and the spacers worked as advertised to isolate the jacks from the chassis. For what it's worth, the Dayton plugs are better made than the Radio Shack gold plated jobs that I've used before in my personal opinion. Incidentally, I'm ordering a couple more pair of the Daytons to have on hand in my next order, so my money is where my mouth is on this issue....One time when you can use RCA's without the insulating spacer to the chassis is when you are using a wooden chassis. This is the approach I've taken on my (seemingly eternal) 2A3 project, for what it's worth.
Anyway, good luck with your project!
Enjoy your music!
