Hi MBK,
I am sorry having caused a fire in your brain.
As Thorsten pointed out the sinx/x effect is a slight loss of high frequencies caused by the starwave character of the signal. According to a old source (HiFiStereo-Phonie Magazine) the loss is 0.75 dB at 10 kHz and 3,2 dB at 20kHz.
I choose a Bessel filter characteristic as the Bessel filter has constant delay till the crossover point. The phase changes near the crossover! And also as the Bessel filter does not corrupt the pulse response i.e. no ringing or overshoot. I accepted the loss in the high frequencies, as there does not exist a filter type with steep response and no ringing. I also found it wise not to bombard my ears with ultrasonic garbage, I can't hear it but maybe the garbage CAN damage my hearing and that is the last thing I want to let happen. Though I don't hear it I did notice the garbage is there. The public is also warned not to expose there ears to the "sound" of ultrasonic cleaning equipment and dentists are warned to protect there ears while ultrasonically cleaning your teeth. As a transformer has limited bandwith it has a low pass filter action too.
