Dave:This is a very interesting design idea. I do see a potential problem with it. Aluminum in any form has a small range of resonant frequencies which in effect would tend to shape the sound in a certain way. That is not necessarily bad, but it will be different from something that had a very wide neutral range of resonant frequencies.
The reason I even thought about this is b/c Russ Andrews mentions that when he is talking about Torlyte.
Any ideas on that? Perhaps that's where the "snap" in the treble is coming from. . .
