Metal Grain Structure

Metals have a micrograin structure. this grain is dependent on metal / alloy and cooling rate.

We fought that war during deposition in a sputtering system used for micro electronics / semiconductors.

I would just gently suggest that the Grain Orientation of metal COULD effect some other properties which may be audible.

One possible exception? SINGLE CRYSTAL metals. If you can fabricate a fuse element from such a material, than it SHOULD be immune to any directional effects.....
Since grain boundries are potential failure sites, some modern Jet Engines use single crystal turbine blades. Expensive to produce, they also are cheaper since they do not fail......
Too much is never enough
