Thanks for the detailed feedback, I am using IsoDamp strips as IsoDamp is hard to get in the UK, this is the strip, https://www.enrgtech.co.uk/product/foam/ET19609463/C-1002-12-PSA-1-X180--1RL, 1" wide.
The strip is has an adhesive backing on 1 side only.
The MDF shelves will have a wood veneer finish, which is matt, however I may apply oil or a lacquer for aesthetics.
There doesn't appear to be a consumer Bostick 2 part adhesive in the UK, however there is this, https://diy.bostik.com/en-UK/products/repair-assembly/contact-adhesive, would this work?
