Likely based on squashing the dynamics if an enclosure is over-dampened.Perhaps more than any other audiophlie listening cue, Naim is concerned with PRAT.
You don't want to suck the life out of the music that you listen to.
Compliant damping materials can actually store energy and resonate more than dissipate the energy, which should be the point.
Even then, you don't want to change the resonant frequency in a manner that affects the sound in an "unpleasant" manner.
