I used three 1" X 6" pieces of Black Hole Pad to dampen the top cover of a CD player I used to own. The result was better than an undamped cover. I initially tried more damping material, but found that it dulled the sound too much. I suggest adding in stages to evaluate. More is not necessarily better.
